Meet Teresa

“I always try to be loving and honest and leave someone happier than I found them!”

Her Story

Southern women learn at an early age to dress well wherever they go, even if it’s just down the street. She’s grown to not be obsessive about it, but she still loves to wear her Michael Kors slippers and gold hoops to grab some groceries.

“Fashion is one of my greatest obsessions,” she shared. “Especially when I can fit into a size 8!”

This caring, funny, southern Belle dreams of starting her own line of clothing one day.

“I’m 55 years old and I still have this strong hankering to create clothing. But sewing makes me so stressed, so I really just don’t do it,” she shared.

Teresa’s grandmother was an expert seamstress who taught herself how to sew. “She used to make me clothes out of wools and silks and velvets and laces! OH MY! I managed to get some of her old lace that she cut from very old dresses, and I saved them all for when I finally make something awesome! Until then, every once in a while, I get my big pieces of silk out of the bag and imagine making something gorgeous out of it! One day!”

Outside of being a full-time fashionista, Teresa is a Real Estate Agent, and she enjoys connecting with different people day in and day out.

“I enjoy helping people get into a new house and the process of listing a home and selling it,” she shared. “Talking to the people, enjoying their company and showing them houses that they might like to spend their lives in is really rewarding!”

While Theresa loves her day job, her true passion is helping women feel in charge of their lives. She’s currently exploring that passion as an advocate for gun safety.

“I decided that I wanted to learn and study proper weapon safety to help women feel safe. If I ever got into a bad situation, I would want to know that I could defend myself,” she shared.

“I just want to help women, that’s my passion. To help them feel in charge of their lives.”

Outside of work and passions, Teresa is a proud mom of twin boys and is married to the love of her life, whom she only met in December of 2008 on an online dating service while she was still living in a cotton field in Southeast Arkansas with her mom, at the age of 45. “We saw each other three times before he flew to Arkansas and brought me back to Missouri to marry me!”

Theresa’s spunky, fun personality, and her deep passion to help women feel safe shows her big heart and fearless approach to life. Now, if she could only be so fearless with a sewing machine!

This Special Photo…

This is a picture of my twin boys. The photographer kept trying to get the one on the left (Isaac) to smile, but instead, he was beginning to well up. Knowing this, the one on the right, (Daniel), put his arm lovingly around Isaac’s shoulder and pulled him in closer so he wouldn’t cry. I told the photographer “TAKE THE PICTURE!” I love this because it shows me how a child of barely a year can already show compassion and humanity.

What’s your day-to-day style like?

If I’m working, I’ll be wearing Laurie’s jeans or Gilman’s jeans. I’ll be wearing some awesome heels and some big silver earrings and a high-low blouse with some lace in it, or with embroidery (that includes my jeans as well)! I’ll also have my giant silver cuff on my wrist and my Paloma Picasso leaf ring…Maybe some over-the-knee leather boots in winter and my Southwest style silver metal belt with a poncho.

On Laurie Felt – Los Angeles

Laurie has some pretty cool ideals about her…just the way she does things..her modest, sweet nature..and of course her clothing!

If you could describe your style in one word or phrase, what would it be?

Mine! 🙂

Any new hobbies?

I have discovered pilates. At the age of 50, I was in the best shape of my life. I was a gym rat and was getting my body into the best shape ever…the only thing is, I was 50…I hurt myself and had to stop all activity. I have been working out, getting stronger and developing a core for the past year.

What color best describes you?

I’m drawn to aquamarine, turquoise, teal…the colors of many waters!
